Everlasting Wardrobe
Kids grow. Clothing Doesn’t
Everlasting Wardrobe is a service that rents out children's clothes. They use data and experiences to market their service and offer a subscription that changes as kids grow.
The main job is to offer monthly clothing rentals. Customers pick their clothing preferences and then get a set number of clothes every month. They return the clothes after a month and get the next month's rental. This service helps parents save money on buying kids' clothes and cuts down on wasted clothes as kids grow.
My Role: UX Designer, Graphic Designer
Tools: Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator
In early 2019, I started a part-time job at Everlasting Wardrobe. As a UI Designer, I was mainly responsible for interface design and brand visual design.
In UI design, I was responsible for two directions. One is the interface for handling order issues for customer representatives. Another direction is the clothing brand display interface for users.
I was working with the product manager and design lead. During the meeting, they explained the basic requirements of the product and the direction of the task. Since the website was already in operation when I joined the company, most of my designs needed to follow the company's brand style.
Problems I participated in solving
Create interfaces for customer representatives to process user orders.
Help them understand order information more clearly and intuitively, and deal with problems efficiently.
Make the cooperative brands into a collection page to help users select.
Allow users to intuitively understand the brand features and product trends.
Design a receipt for the customers.
This is the physical receipt mailed to the customer along with the clothing. I need to design an elegant card containing information about the items the customer purchased. At the same time, the card should be able to highlight the brand concept and image.
1. Help the customer representative solve the problem
At that time, there was no data for me to refer to what kind of products the customer representatives needed and what pain points they had. I can only understand the function and direction of this product through the product manager.
After discussion, we concluded that this process has two main points. 1. Highlight the user's information, including personal information, clothing style, and preferences. This allows the customer representative to accurately ingest information. 2. Allow staff from different departments to communicate effectively. I need to clearly show the department ownership on the interface to make feedback and cooperation between departments more efficient.
The product manager helped me check out some details and what he thought needed to be added. Since we did not use online collaboration tools to communicate at that time, the product manager would usually print out the low-fidelity prototypes I made and mark the areas needing improvement.
Let's view the second version of the interfaces
Simple Demos
Admin Tool
More organized layout for representatives to check information and deal with multiple problems.
Use two buttons to represent the two sections of the tool. The two areas could be switched easily without interfering with each other.
The Save Change button could manage the entire area. After any changes are made in any section, all changes can be saved with one click.
Review Portal
The section is for customer service representatives who need to review and follow up questions.
Hovering the mouse over the circular icon reveals information about co-workers collaborating with each other.
The drop-down button helps representatives switch problem feedback from different departments.
Due to some reasons, I left the team and didn't know whether the final interface will be adopted or not. So this is an undecided design scheme at present. But as you can see, the second edition is much clearer in terms of information presentation than the first edition, which I think is more practical for customer representatives to use.
2. Help users to build a brands collection page
Make the cooperative brands collection into a page to help users select clothes. Allow users to intuitively understand the brand features and product trends.
I had a discussion with the team on how to categorize the brands. From the user's point of view, without knowing the brand, they would like to classify clothes according to their characteristics, which can help them make choices. Things like comfort, materials. From a platform point of view, we want to let users know which brands are the most popular, which helps us to promote. Listing which brands are at a discount can also stimulate spending. Therefore, we choose these categories to classify the brands.
I raised the need for a search bar and filter. With the improvement and expansion of the platform, there will be more and more brands cooperating with us. It is more efficient for customers to search for their preferences by the filter. ⬇️
Here is the Brand Portal view
Since the brand’s images are colorful, I didn’t use many elements to decorate the interface. Let the user's attention focused on the brands, can better present the concept and promote sales.
3. Design invoices for the customers
Designing receipts requires the ability to apply visual design, which is a challenge for me. After the discussion, I realized that this was an opportunity to build a good brand image for Everlasting Wardrobe. An elegant card can leave a good impression on customers.
Final design
Selected Visual Design
For branding development, Everlasting Wardrobe needs some graphic design products to promote. I designed some icons and graphics to help them build their brand image.
Take Away 🖍
In B2C mode, the platform needs to know the users very well. Using data analysis and other methods to grasp user behavior trace.
Follow the style of each brand. There are various clothes brands marketed on our platform. When designing materials for the brand, I couldn't produce it completely according to the style of the platform I worked on to keep the whole page consistent.
Showing is more efficient than talking. When the product manager is not sure about which style or typesetting is closer to his thought, I draw my ideas out to show him instead of communicating again and again.
The job function and responsibility of startups have not been clearly defined. But I understand it very well. I am willing to do related work within my ability, such as graphic design, and brand design.
